Maintenance Tips for Automatic Mechanical Watches
Winding Your Watch
The energy generated by the wearer’s wrist movement is transmitted to the mainspring via the rotor. This energy powers the movement and, subsequently, the hands of the watch.
It is recommended for wearers to wind their watch daily through natural wrist movements. In cases where the watch has stopped, winding the crown about twenty times is suggested for optimal restart.
For those who do not wear their watch frequently, the use of a suitable winding box for your model is advised to ensure long-term functionality, thus minimizing the need for frequent adjustments.
Regular Comprehensive Service
To maintain the excellent performance of your automatic movement and ensure the accuracy of your watch, a complete service at an authorized service center is recommended every 4 to 5 years. For watches with complex functionalities, consider a thorough service every 3 to 4 years.
Moisture Protection
Annual inspections of all sealing gaskets are strongly advised to maintain the watch’s water resistance.
Use your watch according to its water resistance rating. After adjusting the time or functions, ensure the crown is properly sealed against the case to prevent moisture ingress.
If water enters the case or signs of moisture are detected, immediately bring your watch to the nearest authorized service center. After contact with seawater, it’s recommended to rinse your water-resistant watch with fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth.
Leather Strap Care
Your strap requires attentive maintenance. Leather, being delicate, sensitive, and alive, necessitates special care. Moisture and cosmetics can accelerate the aging process of leather.
