Why “Swiss Made” Stands as the Sole Beacon of Trust?
The global acclaim for Swiss-made watches is unparalleled, a testament to knowledge, incomparable quality, aesthetic mastery, and technological innovation. The term “Swiss Made” not only signifies a commitment to excellence but also ensures that a timepiece is second to none.
However, the “Swiss Made” label is not to be taken lightly, as it is the watchmaking industry’s unique mark of credibility, deeply tied to customer satisfaction.
This prestigious label encapsulates significant intrinsic value, defined by stringent legal criteria. Currently, federal legislation determines the conditions under which a watch or clock may bear this renowned label, safeguarding its authenticity and trustworthiness.
To further protect the value of this designation, the criteria for using the “Swiss Made” label have been substantially tightened. The legislation regulating the use of the “Swiss” name on watches has been updated to meet the demands within the industry and comply with the requirements of the new Swissness legislation passed in 2013.
In defense of this hallmark, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry takes daily action to protect “Swiss Made” and other geographical indications, such as “Geneva.” To this end, “Swiss Made” and “Swiss” have been registered as certification marks in the United States and Hong Kong.
Finally, we also oversee the registration of the compulsory Manufacturer Identification Mark (MIP), as stipulated by trademark protection laws. This vigilance ensures that the “Swiss Made” legacy remains untarnished, upholding its status as the epitome of reliability and craftsmanship in the watchmaking world.
